Advent Calendar Haiku #1

So, I’ve decided to write a haiku over the next 24 days to celebrate Winter and the run up to Christmas.

So for day number 1 …

Waiting for snowfall;
Our cheeks are burning from
Winter’s cold breath.

Come back tomorrow for another haiku.

Take It Easy

Paul

Tea Break

like a custard cream
dipped into a cup of tea
this poem –
has fell apart.

I made this whilst taking a break from writing dialogue. I thought it was quite funny.

If you’re looking for a quick read, why not check out Killing Time in NYC.

Take it easy everyone,

Paul

breaking the storm

clouded by dank fog
guided by wailing gulls
a ship clears the storm.

Candles

The flame glows brightly
a memory of life lost
burning out too fast.

Love Yourself

Curb your inner voice
it speaks in hateful language
always love yourself

Hurt the Sky

Lightning pierces sky
wounding with crazed cruel intent
Thunder gives applause.

ripples

a calm lake quivers
seduced by the moon’s soft kiss
telling ripples rise.

bamboo

we weave through life’s obstacles
like wind through bamboo
trying not to get whipped by branches
but often getting caught in the leaves.

foundations

we live in paper houses
stained at the edges
the poison crept in slowly
tainting the foundations.

futures

futures prepared
in classrooms, age 14
life’s lessons are harsh.
